JCRC Archive Photo: MO River Float Flying

There was one thing that Charlie Little liked as much as flying R/C planes and that was running his boat out on the Missouri River, so why not combine both activities into one? The giant river provided a huge area (albeit moving) to fly on, but with a recovery boat like this, it was a great way to get out and fly in the peace & quiet of nature. This is a Great Planes PT-20 mounted on floats flown with an Ace MicroPro 8000 radio.

Suggested by Club President, John Dussold, we are going to host a series of archived (old) photos of JCRC people, activities, airplanes, etc. If you have a photo that you would like to share, please e-mail it to us

JCRC Archive Photo: Sportster & Ranger

This is Bill Stodgell, certainly our member with the longest membership record in JCRC. Here he is shown with his Super Sportster and Ranger, both scratch built. Bill could probably build any airplane he sets his mind on.

JCRC Archive Photo: Gee Bee

Tom Copeland recently finished another beautiful example of a Gee Bee aircraft, but this is one that he built several years ago. Tom seems to enjoy building airplanes that are fast and have large wheel pants.

JCRC Archive Photo: Sturdy Birdy

Taken back in 1998, here is Brandon Hoelscher getting what looks like a Duraplane Sturdy Birdy ready to fly. Nowadays you will see him flying a .60-sized Great Planes U-Can-Do 3D.

JCRC Archive Photo: Autogiro

As you can see, Tom Copeland has been building unique and beautiful model airplanes for a long time now. This is an Autogiro that he built. The photo even shows the rotten old picnic tables we used to have at the field

JCRC Archive Photo: Balsa USA Stick 40

This is John Crow with his ever faithful and exciting-to-watch as it takes off, Balsa USA Stick 40. We believe this plane has gone through a color change or two in its flying career and is still flying today in John Deere green & yellow.
