| I.M.A.A. Rally of the Giants - June 2004 - Index 1 of 6 |
See the SIX index pages of photos (below) of this annual gathering of the largest R/C models in America. The event takes place at different locations each year, but it remains the same; the IMAA Rally of the Giants. This is the second time that the event was held at the National Flying Site of the Academy of Model Aeronautics in Muncie, Indiana. It was also held there in 2002. This year's event ran from June 17 through 20, 2004. There were close to 200 pilots attending this non-competitive event, which also brought out a lot of wonderful airplanes to enjoy watching. Gary Bussell did a great job as this year's Contest Director. Some of the nation's top pilots were on hand to give demonstrations or sell their goods. Also many vendors were on hand with hard-to-pass-up show specials. JCRC's Shaun Zimmerman attended the event along with his Dad, Stan Zimmerman. A contingency of the "Lonestar Bandits" (including our former member, Bryan Zang) was also on hand to perform their 3-D antics for the crowds of spectators. Additionally, if you look on Index page #6, you will find some photos of Danny Wilson's Combat project. Danny and his crew chief, Stan Zimmerman, is going to fly in the "Nationals" Combat competition this year. Take a look at what they have done to prepare for that event. They have CNC foam cutters, new trailers to haul all of the equipment and a minimum of 8 completely ready-to-fly combat models with many, many stand-by replacement parts when needed. Good luck in the competition guys! Click on the thumbnails below to see larger versions of each photo. You can also navigate through the index pages by using the arrows at the top of this page. Information about some of the airplanes shown will be displayed on the pages with the larger image. Finally on Index Page #6 you will also find a few digital video clips of these events.
