It was sure a bumpy road trying to get this event held this year, but it finally happened on Sunday, October 26, 2003. It was billed as the "JCRC Fall Fun-Fly" but due to the cold temperatures, it could have easily been called the "JCRC 1st Winter Fun-Fly". It started off being postponed due to a scheduling conflict, then it was rained out, but we finally got it together. Lots of our newest members were on hand for this event, as well as several 'old timers'. It was overcast and chili most of the day, but Chris & Sonya Byrd broke out their brand new portable gas grill and cooked up some wonderful hamburgers, plus others brought side dishes and desserts to share, like Mrs. Marshall's great chocolate sheet cake and Sonya's caramel covered apples. There was some fun times flying as well. Ron Horn brought out his brand new Hanger 9 Arrow (advanced trainer). Tom Copeland tore up the skies with his Giant Stinger. John Dussold and Brandon Rex flew John's Ugly Stick 60. The rest were mostly trainer type aircraft and all of us trying to make good landings in the crosswind. There was even a heaping helping of junk for sale, with the exception, of course, of a new trainer for sale :-). Most of all, this event helped the Club push 'over-the-top' of our financial difficulties, so we really appreciate your participation in this event!
