JCRC Fire Fly - July 6, 2002

To celebrate the birth of our country, JCRC held it's annual Fire-Fly at our own flying field in Jefferson City. Even though the heat was almost too much to bear, several members and visitors from all over the state arrived to help us celebrate. The winds were perfectly calm except for the occasional light thermal that would pass by.

Right at the very beginning of the Fun-Fly disaster struck as Bryan Zang put his award-winning Carden CAP 232 into an inverted flat-spin and it wouldn't pull out. OUCH!

Dan Puckett came down from St. Louis to impress all of us with his unique style of flying and his DA-100 powered Edge 540T

Brian Nutt brought out his beautiful Dave Patrick Models Extra 330L

Rick Taylor's Boeing e-757 being charged for its next transcontinental flight.

Rick Taylor's Boeing e-757 on a low pass, this is a very unique electric model put together by Rick Taylor from a $6 Wal-Mart foam plane.

Rick's 757 about to land - call out the fire trucks, his gear didn't come down!!

Randy Morris successfully converted and flew one of his SPAD (Simple Plastic Airplane Design) planes to fly on electric

Hey this looks like a bunch of expensive junk - can you blame a guy for trying? Lots of stuff for sale by Shaun Zimmerman

Shaun & Stan Zimmerman recently built this GWS J-3 "e-Cub". If you're going to fly "Micro-sized" planes, then you must wear a "Micro-Henry" helmet!

Just around 5 P.M. we heard the distant thunder, then the sky opened up and sheets of rain came down, we were surrounded by lightning strikes as we all held on to metal tent poles.
